November 18, 2024Beyond the Balance Sheet: Pay it Forward
Pay it Forward According to the Cambridge Dictionary, to “pay it forward” means to do something kind or useful for someone because someone has done something kind or useful for you. For me, paying it forward goes even deeper. It means leaving things better than we found them, guided by the principle that “to whom much is given, much is expected.” This belief shapes how I lead both in my personal life and within our firm. In my experience, this approach truly fosters trust and enables us to have a culture in which we seek opportunities to help each other and those in our communities. In other words, paying it forward here at WebsterRogers means staying committed to going the extra mile for our colleagues, clients, and communities. Community Support One of the things I’m most proud of is how our firm cares for and supports our communities. We’re committed to empowering everyone to give back in ways that matter the most to them by supporting them with both dollars and time. In addition to individual support, our firmwide volunteer committee identifies and carefully evaluates local causes, giving each of our offices a chance to work together to make a meaningful difference in their community. Many of our people go above and beyond—not because they’re required to, but because they genuinely care about making a difference. WebsterRogers Foundation Another way we pay it forward is through the WebsterRogers Foundation. Our foundation is funded through team member contributions, and the funds are used to directly support programs in our communities and our profession. When a cause resonates with a team member, we encourage them to pursue it, and we support their active participation in the outreach. Our dedication to giving back is woven into the very fabric of our firm—it’s part of who we are. Team members know that by supporting each other and our communities, they’re contributing to a legacy of positive change that extends beyond our walls. Personally, I take this to heart by serving on boards that align with our values, carefully selecting three organizations each year where I can make the most significant impact. I want to give these causes my total commitment, offering time, energy, and resources to make a real difference. Together, we’re building a culture that’s not only strong and compassionate but also driven by the responsibility to keep paying it forward. During this season of gratitude, I am grateful for the impact that we make in our communities. And most importantly, I am thankful for you, our team members, who work together to support each other and our communities in extraordinary ways. Warm wishes for a happy Thanksgiving filled with family, friendship, and gratitude. Amy Fisher Urquhart |
