June 25, 2026The Advisory Advantage of Staying Curious
Summer often brings a welcome change of pace. I enjoy the longer days, the break from managing homework, taxiing my children from activity to activity, and the extra time spent with family and friends at the lake. In our professional lives, things tend to slow down a bit as well. Vacations are planned, deadlines become more manageable, and we look forward to our annual Fourth of July closure.
While there is still plenty to accomplish, the midpoint of the year offers a valuable opportunity to step back and reflect, both personally and professionally.
It is a chance to evaluate goals, celebrate progress, and honestly assess what is working well and where adjustments may be needed. Too often, we become consumed by day-to-day responsibilities and lose sight of the bigger picture. Sustainable growth requires us to occasionally pause, look ahead, and make intentional decisions about where we want to go next.
The same is true for our clients. Midyear is an ideal time to revisit priorities, assess challenges, and identify opportunities for the months ahead. Economic conditions, technology, workforce needs, and business goals continue to evolve. Taking time now to evaluate those changes can help our clients finish the year strong and prepare for what comes next.
Recently, I heard that the average four-year-old asks hundreds of questions each day. Curious myself, I looked into how many questions adults ask. The difference was striking. Somewhere between childhood and adulthood, many of us trade curiosity for certainty.
Yet curiosity remains one of the most powerful drivers of growth.
What if we approached our clients’ businesses with the same inquisitive mindset as a child exploring the world for the first time? What challenges are keeping them up at night? What opportunities might they be overlooking? How can we help them improve efficiency, strengthen planning, or prepare for future growth?
When we remain curious, we uncover insights that lead to better solutions and stronger relationships.
Sometimes the most valuable work we do is not checking another item off the list. It is creating space to think strategically, ask better questions, and see new possibilities. Those moments of reflection often spark the insights that create long-term value.
As you enjoy the summer months ahead, I’ll leave you with one question:
How can you embrace a little more curiosity to better serve and advise our clients?
